Compressor & Production Equipment Sound Control - Drillingnoisecontrol

We specialize in all aspects of environmental noise and vibration measurement, analysis, and control.

Compressor & Production Equipment Sound Control

As the number of gas compressors and pipeline excavation operations near sensitive noise receptors and in urban areas continues to increase across the United States, concern grows about the associated environmental noise impact of the gas compressors and gas transmission facilities. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and many cities, counties, and states have enacted new regulations and noise ordinances that require operators to meet specific decibel level requirements and encourage compressor noise mitigation.

ENC has developed a multi-layered gas compressor sound control approach to helping operators meet the requirements of the increasingly strict noise ordinances. Our experienced personnel meet with operators and review applicable ordinances to determine the best noise control solutions such as a noise control enclosure on a site by site basis. Gas compressor sound levels, include frequency spectra levels are measured and analyzed to ensure the sound control system is designed to meet the equipment’s specific frequency conditions. This is most critical in applications where extra low frequency (ELF) and/or infrasound low frequency sound levels are generated by the operation of the compressor equipment. The most commonly implemented noise mitigation methods include installation of temporary and permanent sound walls, equipment enclosures and acoustically treated buildings.
